Cartoons, cartoons, cartoons.... John Crowther's Cartoon Odyssey

I think of it as The Fool's Journey. I've been asked who the "fool" is. It's me, but in the classical sense of the court jester. Only the fool was allowed to tell the king of his follies. All cartoons are available as prints or originals, framed or unframed, through my website or e-mail. It has been said that the bun is the lowest form of wheat, and the pun is the lowest form of wit. I rest my case.

Counting down: as of this coming Monday The Fool will have posted for an entire year without missing a day. Actually, the total number of posts will be 366, due to the fact that there were two postings on the inaugural day, 11/6/06.

Very witty John! It took me a sec but I finally got it. We call them ticks you call them checks... our checks are spelled cheque and come in a book... and our ticks can be anything from that happy little symbol (so full of latent optimism) to the parasite on a dog's hind leg. Sheesh... what a weird and wonderful world we live in getting weirder and more wonderful by the day. What's not at all weird and altogether wonderful is the fact that you have been at this for the past 365 of them! Congratulations John... that's awesome! :-)

Thanks, Rico!

Gosh, Jean, I never thought of the cultural differences with this one. Thanks for the congratulations. We are parallel travellers in the blogosphere.

Congratulations, John!
I am sure that it has been taken a huge chunk of your time to keep up this schedule.

It would be interesting to know how you get all of the inspirations for a daily cartoon, do the children's book and the other illustrations that you have been commissioned to do.(Like MAD) Do you ever get time to sleep?

I am thrilled that you have made this one year record. I have known many that tried such feats, but have been distracted by other things and given up. What is your next goal?

A great record.......to be very proud of. Katherine

yeah. What they said.
What children's book?
That is so cool!
Are you writing it, or just (like illustrating a book is a "just") doing the illustrations?
When you finish it I'll get some to sell at my theatre.

Thanks, everyone, for the kind words and support.... even when I've pushed some buttons and rattled cages.

Kate, the children's book is a commission, for the illustrations, but I have some other projects I'm working on, plus a graphic novel that's a collaboration. A lot on the plate, but it's nothing but fun! (And I haven't forgotten your logo.)

Thanks, Katherine. To tell the truth, it doesn't seem like work, and the last year has sped by. The cartoon ideas keep coming, sometimes there magically when I wake up in the darkness before dawn. Aside from the various projects, I now have dared to set my sights on The New Yorker, the Mt. Everest of cartooning.

Goodness!
Forget about the logo!
Someday, when you aren't so busy, maybe you can get around to it.
I feel guilty even having asked you, considering all that you have going.
I would love to see the children's book. Be sure and let us know when it's finished.

Please put me on the list for the children's book.

Regarding "The New Yorker"......I was reading an old copy a couple of days ago and thinking that your work "belonged" in it. Good luck.
