Super Week
It just gets better and better. Ann Coulter is endorsing Hillary for president, Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity are savaging John McCain, and Pat Buchanan had high marks for both Sen. Clinton and Sen. Obama in last Thursday's debate, where they were so chummy with each other I thought maybe we were supposed to register them as a couple at Bed, Bath, and Beyond. Meanwhile we have the Super Bowl today and two days later Super Tuesday. How much Super-ness can we be expected to take?

John, perhaps we should not diminish the appeal of Super-ness in our times so quickly. I believe a great deal of confusion about what that really means may be due to the mis-translation and mis-understanding of Nietzsche. In German “ubermensch” means overman, not superman. An overman, according to the philosopher, disagrees with bourgeois values and tries to conquer his weaknesses and that of the rest of humanity through superior behavior. (Entirely admirable, in my opinion.) Other than a few impulsive flights, the visitor from Krypton, the greatest Super-man of our times spends most of his time on our planet as mild-mannered Clark Kent. I ask you -- can you blame him (or anyone else) for aspiring for something grander, something “super-er” than just being a reporter for a daily newspaper?
Ah, to have the wit of dear Ann Coulter, or better yet to know that she speaks with such elegance and charm for us little people.
Wow. Ann Coulter endorsing Hillary?! Had no idea. That makes it so much easier to vote now...
