Cartoons, cartoons, cartoons.... John Crowther's Cartoon Odyssey
I think of it as The Fool's Journey. I've been asked who the "fool" is. It's me, but in the classical sense of the court jester. Only the fool was allowed to tell the king of his follies. All cartoons are available as prints or originals, framed or unframed, through my website or e-mail. Ah John, you have perfectly represented what was once called a “harridan” --a scolding and vicious woman-- a word whose origins are obscure, some believing it to come from the old French word “haridelle” meaning an old horse or nag. In an earlier time of cartooning such a woman might have also been called a “battle ax” and would have greeted her man at the door with a rolling pin in hand in place of the military weapon. Alas, the days when harridans and battle axes baked has long since gone.
Another good one, John C
