One Man's Meat
When I was 18 I spent the summer in Europe with a school group. In the Bavarian Alps we stayed in a small inn. At lunch one day one of my companions found a worm in her rice soup. Then someone else found one, and pretty soon almost everyone discovered a worm in their soup. Despite the fact the soup was delicious they all laid down their spoons. "Didn't you find one?" someone asked me after I'd cleaned my bowl. "Nope," I answered. "Lucky you," they all said. "It's not luck," I told them. "I didn't look."

Euewww John! LOL. Cartoon spot on.
Thanks, Jean. It was when I was rafting on a croc-infested river in Zimbabwe once that I realized we're not the top of the food chain.
Absolutely John! I was on a plane recently returning home to North Queensland. There were some Americans on board and I had to chuckle at their reaction to seeing a large group of crocodiles swimming along the shoreline just out to sea as we passed over the beaches on final approach. Yep they're out there... and they're everywhere. Thankfully for us they are mostly just getting on with it... you have to be pretty unlucky... in the wrong place at the wrong time to join the food chain in such a negative way. It does however happen from time to time.
USA citizens must have been from the east coast, Jean. The rest of us know and respect crocs. They are not an endangered species over here, either. (grin)
I thought you guys had alligators? I think they were from Minesota! Crocodiles swimming out to sea were once virtually unheard of here. There used to be culling programs to keep numbers down. Now we have greenies... we also have crocs 4 -5 metres (up to 20ft) migrating along the beaches between estuaries. There have been two lives taken already this year. Crocs should definitely be moved out of populated areas. Failing that I hear the skins make very nice handbags. ;-/
Oops I should clarify... the "people" were from Minesota... not the alligators LOL
