Cartoons, cartoons, cartoons.... John Crowther's Cartoon Odyssey

I think of it as The Fool's Journey. I've been asked who the "fool" is. It's me, but in the classical sense of the court jester. Only the fool was allowed to tell the king of his follies. All cartoons are available as prints or originals, framed or unframed, through my website or e-mail. Look Again

If there's any observation of cultural significance to be made about the death of Michael Jackson and the ensuing extravaganza that was his send-off, it is the discomfiting reality that a high percentage of the tsunami of media reporting was, and still is, unverifiable or just plain false.

LOL, had to read it twice to remember where all the brouhaha took place. Great cartoon, John C.

I think it's incredibly sad. Here's a person who despite the incredible gift he gave the world never got a moments peace while he was in it (or out of it for that matter). To say that's the price of fame is a cop out and a poor compensation for an intrusion so complete that it literally killed the metaphorical goose that laid the golden egg. Shades of Diana all over again. While people continue to buy the stuff the media peddles in the name of a buck this stuff will continue unabated. When will we ever learn?

Great cartoons as usual John!

Thanks, Lee and Jean. It's a vicious circle really, isn't it. The public's insatiable need for tragedy and scandal to spice up otherwise blah lives fuels the media tsunami.

Now there's the thing. People should spice up that blah life and live incredible lives of their own. But most are too chicken sh%# to do that... so buy a magazine or stay glued to the television coverage and live vicariously through those who are out there doing it... going places... and getting there. From the comfort of an armchair at a goodly safe distance is the perfect place to judge critisize and demonise those who are living for (and occasionally dying from) the realisation of their dreams. Wichever way it goes... whatever... at least they're living it. My 2 cents (again) Oops.
