Cartoons, cartoons, cartoons.... John Crowther's Cartoon Odyssey

I think of it as The Fool's Journey. I've been asked who the "fool" is. It's me, but in the classical sense of the court jester. Only the fool was allowed to tell the king of his follies. All cartoons are available as prints or originals, framed or unframed, through my website or e-mail. Just Folks

Jean's comment yesterday (bless you, Jean) that all this may be metaphorical reminds me of the time director Milos Foreman was discussing his brilliant satirical film The Fireman's Ball, made while he was still living and working in then Czechoslovakia. Milos talked about how the entire firemen's union of the country threatened to strike because they felt he had been making fun of them. He was forced to appear at a union meeting to explain that he wasn't making fun of them at all, he was making fun of the government system. The firemen were all puffed up to learn that they were a metaphor representing the leadership of the country, and so went back to work. "But you know something," Milos added. "the movie is really about firemen."

Check out Jean's always interesting blog at http://jeanburman.com/. I only wish she'd post more frequently, but hey, she's a busy artist and writer.

MY HAT IS OFF TO JEAN WHO IS EXTREMELY TALENTED IN BOTH FIELDS. Just when I think you can not top the previous day's cartoon, you turn around and do it. This is truly a classic today, John C.

Ha... no pressure or anything John! LOL But thanks so much for plug anyway. I really do appreciate it! And it's timely as well.. to have the opportunity to explain here [because I can't presently post on my own blog] the level of frustration I have with my web host and a platform that allows hackers to do their darndest to create havoc for people like me just trying to get on with it. Third time this year. Time methinks for a new web host... and perhaps a more secure platform... but for now... I just wanna get back up and running... boohoo! Messages of sympathy will be gratefully received. I need serious cheering up *wink*

Thanks too Lee. You John and me have been friends a long time now... :-)
