Cartoons, cartoons, cartoons.... John Crowther's Cartoon Odyssey

I think of it as The Fool's Journey. I've been asked who the "fool" is. It's me, but in the classical sense of the court jester. Only the fool was allowed to tell the king of his follies. All cartoons are available as prints or originals, framed or unframed, through my website or e-mail. Double or Nothing

I'm addicted to quiz programs. I actually learned Italian by watching a quiz show while first living in Italy. It was called Rischiatutto ("Risk Everything"), and was essentially a Double or Nothing knock-off. It was a great way to learn since, unlike watching the news, say, where one's attention could wander, I had to try and answer the questions. But my favorite quiz show over there was called Colpo Grosso, which translates as "Jackpot." It was a strip quiz, with a host as sleazy as the show's concept, where the contestants played against each other and had to remove an article of clothing each time they missed an answer. As Dave Barry says, I'm not making this up.

Must admit that I like to watch Jeopardy once in awhile but can not take most of the other quiz shows as they are too noisy.

hahaha... all I can say is "only in Italy!" LOL

I watch the news in Russian and Spanish on SBS some mornings while I'm having breakfast. It's amazing how much you can inadvertently pick up that way. George Dubya appeared this morning speaking in English but dubbed over in Spanish. Oddly... it made perfect sense! (((LOL)))

Is the woman in the sweater with her arms folded someone special in your life? I can't help but notice that she's been in a previous cartoon, and maybe more?
Isn't that unusual for a character who is there only as an observer?

She reminds me of the long suffering neighbour to Mrs. Bucket (pronounced boo-kay) in the British sitcom Keeping Up Appearances! If John's anything like me... he hauls out and recycles his characters as needed. No "special" relationship intended or implied.

But I'm sure he can speak for himself if he feels this needs answering.

Quite right, Jean. These people are very real to me. I think of them as actors in a stock company, playing a variety of roles. There are several more one can see frequently repeated. And no, I'm not having a relationship, licit or illicit, with any of them.

It would never occur to me that you would be having an illicit relationship with her.
Men like you: successful, intelligent, funny, don't get romantically involved with women like that. If they did, the women wouldn't BE like that.
Someone like you, married to a beautiful (I assume) Italian actress would never look twice at such a woman.
