Cartoons, cartoons, cartoons.... John Crowther's Cartoon Odyssey

I think of it as The Fool's Journey. I've been asked who the "fool" is. It's me, but in the classical sense of the court jester. Only the fool was allowed to tell the king of his follies. All cartoons are available as prints or originals, framed or unframed, through my website or e-mail. We Eat Therefore We Are

It's always amused me that some of the sickliest people you'll ever find are to be seen hanging out in health food stores. Even weirder than that is the fact that in your local supermarket the "health food" section is smaller than anything else. Scary, huh?

Yeah... what IS that? I've noticed it too and it concerns me a lot. I wonder if it might be because people who frequent health food stores are already looking for something. They may have already been sick and are looking for answers away from the orthodox medical route. Can't blame them there. And also perhaps the pursuit of health is a mindset of a particular type of personality. It's not your average workaday joe/jane who considers very deeply the kinds of foods and supplements they are going to put into their body.

Or maybe your everyday joe/jane is too busy trying to make a living to have time for this type of thing. Had personal experience with yo-yo who told me that I got breast cancer because I drink wine at night with my dinner. Made me feel very guilty until I read that women in Italy, Spain etc have less breast cancer than other countries because they drink wine. I got breast cancer because I carry a particular gene. That is scientific proven fact!

Lee... maybe they were just trying to be helpful. People often want to do and say the right thing... but don't know quite how they can help... or when they have overstepped the mark. I know I have done this before but certainly never meant to. Cancer steals so much from us... I think no-one would dispute a glass of wine is a convivial way (for us all) to relax and unwind after the troubles of the day. I trust you are keeping well and enjoying life. You deserve it. And those women in Italy and Spain I'm sure can teach us all a thing or two about eating (and drinking) well. We should take note and (even while not in Rome) do as the Romans do LOL :-)

Have no idea what happened but my brilliant and witty reply to you, Jean, was lost in cyberspace. I am doing fine, thanks for asking. Ah, well my brilliant reply can not be recovered at this point so on to today's cartoon.

Isn't that just soooo frustrating? Can't tell you the number of times it's happened to me. I must try to remember not to post big blocks of text using my wireless usb stick as the connection usually times out before the post gets sent. You end up losing the lot and as you know... it's utterly impossible to say again verbatim what you originally said. It's one of those "ah well" deeeeeep sigh moments... preceded of course by the usual obligatory expletives that get uttered when this sort of thing happens (one more time again)! (((LOL)))
