Cartoons, cartoons, cartoons.... John Crowther's Cartoon Odyssey

I think of it as The Fool's Journey. I've been asked who the "fool" is. It's me, but in the classical sense of the court jester. Only the fool was allowed to tell the king of his follies. All cartoons are available as prints or originals, framed or unframed, through my website or e-mail. ....The more Things Stay the Same

I've long maintained that one can't trust the things non-incumbents say when they run for president. It's not that they're necessarily untrustworthy, nor deliberately misrepresenting their beliefs, they just have no idea, like the rest of us, what's going on in the world. The day a new president reports for work at the oval office for the first time, there's a couple of guys in suits and carrying attache cases waiting for him. "Okay, pal," they say, "here's the true poop."

Yep... we don't know the half of it. I feel sorry for the guy or girl who gets the top job. I'll bet by now he just wishes he could go to the beach!

Cool cartoon John!

Thanks, Jean!

I'll bet by now he just wishes he could go to the beach!I dunno, I get the feeling he loves the job. And he seems to have the temperment for it.

There's always that aspect of underestimation in the job though I guess. Just like life in general the full extent can't be known until we're in the thick of it. It's kind of weird how when politicians (no matter where they are) take on the top job they go grey in the first year! Obama does look relatively comfortable though... he has a great support network in his family and he is younger than his predecessors. I wish him well (not that he will need it from me LOL)

No, I think that Obama is loving the attention and the knowledge that he is a first and who can blame him. I wanted him to succeed but I am afraid that his ego is getting in the way. I still have faith but it is becoming eroded by some of his decisions. Personally, I hope that he does not bail out Calif. but I am afraid that he will. Calif. is out of control and soon no one will be able to afford to live here except the movie industry.
