The Democratic Way
In 1988, at the very time Bush I was running for president against Michael Dukakis, I happened to be in Zambia, then a repressive dictatorship. It just so happened that our elections coincided with theirs, where Kenneth Kaunda, not unsurprisingly, was running unopposed. A Zambian said to me, "You're so lucky, you live in a democracy where you have free elections." "Oh, I don't know," I said to him, "there's not really a lot of difference between our systems. You have to vote for one guy you don't want, we have a choice of two."

John C., this cartoon is funny but scary. Seems all to true to me. Same with the commentary.
So I finally got my August edition of Mad Magazine. And let me tell you, it was no small feat.
Our local bookstore carries what must be thousands of magazines; all neatly displayed under categories, like "News", "Beauty", "Automobiles", and the like. Well, I started looking under "Cartoons", and then moved to "Humor", with no luck. But the cashier looked on the computer, and saw their shipment had arrived. But still, we couldn't find them. We looked and we looked: I, my daughter and three employees all looking for Mad Magazines the computer said were there.
Finally after about 20 minutes of looking, we found them. They had been misplaced under the "Craft" section.
I bought it, and there you are, on page 7, as you said.
One day you need to autograph it for me!
LOL, Kate. Of course I'll autograph it. Determination must be rewarded. There's a certain logic to putting it under "craft." There is, after all, a certain craft to doing these darn things. [grin].
I beg to differ. Anyone can learn a craft. Even I can do a craft. But only a few are bestowed with rare gifts.
And that's the way it should be. If everyone had them, they wouldn't be rare.
