Cartoons, cartoons, cartoons.... John Crowther's Cartoon Odyssey

I think of it as The Fool's Journey. I've been asked who the "fool" is. It's me, but in the classical sense of the court jester. Only the fool was allowed to tell the king of his follies. All cartoons are available as prints or originals, framed or unframed, through my website or e-mail. Today Is Sunday, Wasn't It?

I thank Kate for this link to a Kenny Chesney song, which she included in the comments accompanying Friday's post: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oyZOEJjjul0. It was apropos then, and equally so here, so I'm repeating it in case people missed it. There seems to be a theme developing. Meanwhile, with the debates last night and another primary coming up on Tuesday I have the oddly conflicted sense that while on the one hand time is going by incredibly fast, simultaneously the same day is being repeated over and over, as in the Bill Murray film Groundhog Day. Thanks to everyone, by the way, for their comments. I get a huge kick out of them, one and all, including when we rub sticks together and create some heat.

Yes, Time flies, especially when we are all having so much FUN rubbing our two sticks together. A propos, can anyone guess what the chorus is to this verse no one ever sings. Hint: it comes from a famous 1931 song written by H.H. No, not Humbert Humbert, Herman Hupfeld.

“This day and age we're living in
Gives cause for apprehension
With speed and new invention
And things like fourth dimension
Yet we get a trifle weary
With Mr. Einstein's theory
So we must get down to earth at times
Relax relieve the tension
And no matter what the progress
Or what may yet be proved
The simple facts of life are such
They cannot be removed.”

My apologies. I now truly believe in Quantum Physics. Some one out there in another time cycle just pushed the "publish" button at the same time I did in our time frame here on Krypton.

"Woman needs man
And man must have his mate
That no one can deny."

Kate is absolutely correct. The song, famously sung by Dooley Wilson in "Casablanca", is of course "As Time Goes By." Before Ingrid Bergman asked Sam to play it one mo' time, the Baron de Charlus made the same request at Maxims. Only it those days the lyrics went "man needs man... etc."

Love the subtle message of the cartoon John... it is indeed "whizzing by"... one week in already and counting!

Also.. thanks Kate for the link to Don't Blink. I'm not so much a country music fan but the message there is universal.

Il Prof... tuned in too late for your challenge I'm afraid... but lucky for me because I would have crashed and burned on that one!
