Cartoons, cartoons, cartoons.... John Crowther's Cartoon Odyssey

I think of it as The Fool's Journey. I've been asked who the "fool" is. It's me, but in the classical sense of the court jester. Only the fool was allowed to tell the king of his follies. All cartoons are available as prints or originals, framed or unframed, through my website or e-mail. Law and a Side Order

It's always nice on a Sunday morning to turn to the Bible for the day's little homily. Today it's Exodus, 21:24, where it's written, "Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot." To which I add, the wrist is yet to come.

Jesus’ genius as a moral teacher was his admonition to turn the other cheek. That, of course, was in direct contradiction to that more ancient code of an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth -–a philosophy, then and now, that has caused the world so much needless bloodshed. As the Israelis celebrate their 60th anniversary in a country handed to them by another conquering nation with little regard or respect for its Arabic inhabitants, perhaps now is the time for these latest conquerors to consider the teachings of that carpenter’s son who was crucified for his beliefs.
