Cartoons, cartoons, cartoons.... John Crowther's Cartoon Odyssey

I think of it as The Fool's Journey. I've been asked who the "fool" is. It's me, but in the classical sense of the court jester. Only the fool was allowed to tell the king of his follies. All cartoons are available as prints or originals, framed or unframed, through my website or e-mail. Anything For a Good Story

I look at the conventions as a pimple on the face of the endless presidential campaign. It's all come to a head for a few days. Up to now it's been nasty, but nothing like the real ugliness that will come spewing forth in the next couple of months. The media bloviators, meanwhile, have played their usual slimy game of trying to create the news rather than report it, as they poke and prod at the empty hornets' nest that was once the Hillary-Obama nastiness.

Great cartoon. But only 2 days into the one convention and already debating turning off the TV until Nov. 5th.

I have to admit though that Joe Biden's speech reduced me to tears, especially when he introduced his mother. Likewise his son's introduction to him.

Agree that Biden's son's introduction was wonderful. Did anyone hear Obama's speech tonight? Would love to hear everyone's reaction to it.

>>Did anyone hear Obama's speech tonight? Would love to hear everyone's reaction to it.<,

Funny you should ask. I did. Obama is without a shadow of a doubt an exceptional person; unfortunately, my fellow countrymen have always been suspicious of superior beings and in particular articulate ones. (Some of you may recall the sad career of Adlai Stevenson.) The American voting public, that very tiny percentage of the overall citizenry that actually goes to the booth, has always preferred mediocrities, currently born-again f*#kups who have gotten their act together, married well, and learned to take care of their rich buddies who saw them through bad times. Nevertheless, this will be a pivotal election --perhaps the most important one in recent American history. It will really demonstrate if the general public has retained any sense of intelligence whatsoever after all these decades of middle-class self-indulgence and consumerism. The message Obama gives couldn't be better expressed or clearer, but how many have truly listened? How many care? The hate-mongers will all be out there in full force the next months shouting him down. Vedremo.
