Cartoons, cartoons, cartoons.... John Crowther's Cartoon Odyssey

I think of it as The Fool's Journey. I've been asked who the "fool" is. It's me, but in the classical sense of the court jester. Only the fool was allowed to tell the king of his follies. Race to the Finish

This cartoon notwithstanding, I agree with Lee, who pointed out the other day in the comments that it's unfair of the media to keep up this steady drumbeat calling for Hillary to withdraw from the race and leave Barack as the presumptive Democratic candidate. She is, after all, within striking distance of the nomination, and it's simply not true that her winning is a statistical impossibility. Only if you believe the polls, and we know what a mistake that is. Meanwhile, I still don't get this super delegate thing. There's something about it that just doesn't seem democratic. I mean, here's this relatively small group of people who get to vote twice. Did I miss something in Politics 101?

Turned on the news this morning and the first thing I heard was a bunch of old white and black senators calling for Hillary to step down from the race. This is absolutely wrong. She has a right to fight as hard as she needs to get the nomination and if Obama can not stand the heat, he should withdraw. I hope that Hillary is keeping a list of who has been naughty or nice for when she is elected president. No fury like a woman scorned,so they say. The media has not given her a 'fair and balanced' (as the Fox News thingy is always saying) coverage. I may or may not vote for her but I will fight for her right to run. I understand that the Super Delegates will get to decide who gets the nomination instead of the voters of each state. What kind of crazy system is that and why did the taxpayers spend all that money on elections if we are going to be ignored? Who are these super delegates anyway? Why haven't they published a list with their names so that we know who all these people are and can email the ones in our individual states and why don't they have to vote the will of the people? Glad that I am registered 'independent', if I were a Democrat, would be foaming at the mouth at this point. Hang in there, Hillary and don't let these bullies get you down. Just heard on the news that another delegate in a state where Hillary clearly won the popular vote has come out for Obama! What a farce and who thought up this stupid system anyway?

Lololo, by the way, John C., great cartoon.

Hey John, the super-delegates are the same old guys now gals who used to fill those smoke-filled rooms with smoke. Now they may not smoke, but they do decide. Why the hell would you want to be a super if you can’t determine who in hell is going to represent your party? Now no one would deny that Barack has a a lot of charisma and is a terrific public speaker, but Mrs. Clinton has paid her dues and kissed more … babies than any politician in recent memory, and so when push comes to shove and when there is a tiny margin between him and her –as is most likely to happen-- who in hell do you think those guys and gals are going to give their vote? Barack better win some more states by a big margin or else he’s dog meat. I’m not saying he’s not a good guy, he sure is, but he’s an out-sider and she’s in. Guess who wins, pal?
