Cartoons, cartoons, cartoons.... John Crowther's Cartoon Odyssey

I think of it as The Fool's Journey. I've been asked who the "fool" is. It's me, but in the classical sense of the court jester. Only the fool was allowed to tell the king of his follies. All cartoons are available as prints or originals, framed or unframed, through my website or e-mail. Skull-duggery

Conventional wisdom tells us that "right-brained" people are intuitive, impulsive, and prone to accept the most preposterous ideas on faith, while "left-brained" people are rational and analytical. We're also led to believe that "left-brain dominant" people are in the majority, which is absurd. Were it true we wouldn't have advertising, religion, and politics, all of which are aggressively designed to cut through logical inspection of facts and leave people clinging to propositions they've leapt at on the flimsiest of evidence. Like, for instance, the truly lunatic conviction that an individual they never heard of a day previously is qualified to be second-in-command of the United States.

But then... how does one quantify who qualifies? Recent history is littered with politicians who qualified but failed to quantify...if you know what I mean (grin)

Not sure that I am speaking to you John C. but love the cartoons. Hillary, by the way, has refused to bash her as she realizes that people are getting tired of St. Obama and the big bad meany incomb. VP on the rep. side! Hillary is still my pick and Obama made a big ego mistake in not begging her to be VP. Now he has had to call on her help. She will as a loyal dem. come to his rescue but I have lost even more respect for him.He should have been content to be VP and let Hillary take her rightful place.

You're missing my point, Lee. I'm bashing the whole process of pasing over qualified candidates in favor of an unknown who quite clearly doesn't have the experience, education, or (up to now) interest in issues beyond her own small sphere.... like picking someone who's managed a 7-11 to be CEO of an international corporation. McCain likened Obama to a celebrity, then created one. I wish everyone would just put emotions and spin aside and imagine Sarah Palin as president of the U.S. Just think about it. It's not bashing her to believe she's not in the league. America is not being given an opportunity to assess he qualifications.... she's being micromanaged and sold like a product.

But I'm delighted you like the cartoons. [grin]

Not to underestimate her... she looks like the kind of gal who could tackle anything. And she's a fast learner. Also... she wouldn't be the first to take office with little experience.

I get your point though John... the trend is a little worrying. The sausage machine is definitely in full swing!

PS I agree Lee...they could have cracked it with Hillary at the helm and the less experienced O as her running mate. His turn might have come later with some time and experience in office. IMHO the democrats missed a big opportunity here.
