Cartoons, cartoons, cartoons.... John Crowther's Cartoon Odyssey

I think of it as The Fool's Journey. I've been asked who the "fool" is. It's me, but in the classical sense of the court jester. Only the fool was allowed to tell the king of his follies. All cartoons are available as prints or originals, framed or unframed, through my website or e-mail. Liar, Liar

As I sat in my car a couple of days ago, inching along with the rest of the rush hour traffic on the 10 West, I couldn't help but think of all those powerful world leaders in Copenhagen with their private jets and limos, presumably dedicated to the challenges of dealing with global harming. Meanwhile an alarming, and growing percentage of Americans don't believe there's anything amiss. Reminds me of the drunk who said he didn't have a drinking problem. "I drink, I get drunk, I pass out," he said, "no problem."

So if humans cause the climate to become unable to support human life, the whole thing will sort itself out over time. ;-)

I went to a one room 8grade school in Northern Illinois from 1939 until 1944. I remember learning about the carbon cycle in fifth grade geography. One of the points the textbook made was that burning fossil fuels was changing that cycle and the result would be higher temperatures. roger

They made a couple of fundamental blunders.

1. It should never have been called climate change (which no matter what anyone says... is still arguable) It should always have been about the planet and man's pollution of the scant 6 kilometres of atmosphere overhead that we have to survive in. That fact is absolutely and comprehensively indisputable. It requires no science to support it. It's something that anyone anywhere with half a brain in their head can witness for themselves with little effort.

2. They shouldn't have made it about money (allowing polluters who pay to continue to pollute) Climate Change is the new industry which will haul the world out of the current recession and plunge the man in the street into darkness regression and poverty. It's all about greed and corruption. But no surprises there. Man has been up to his neck in it since time immemorial.

My view. Not a popular one. Too bad.

It's time for scientists politicians and big business to come clean about the REAL problem before it's too late.

Oops sorry... already too late.
