Caveat Emptor
My wife and I once were looking to buy a piece of property outside Rome that belonged to the local parish. It was for sale because the church in the small village desperately needed a new roof. For the sale to be approved, we had to meet with the regional bishop in his elegant villa. He seemed like a nice fellow, but it was hard not to be bowled over by the disconnect between this bejeweled man, surrounded by elegant furniture and magnificent works of art, and the poor folks of the village who just wanted to keep the rain out on Sundays.

I am born catholic and will die catholic but in the meantime can not understand the trappings of the church, so rich in many ways but so poor in spirit in others ways. Not sure that God always approve of what the church does. Think there are times when He weeps for the sins of the church as all true believers do.
this is a good cartoon today and right on target, much as I deplore it. Sad times for all of us and often hard to keep faith.
Had to laugh. Today visiting a small country town near here my brother was looking for a National Bank branch. We found an old brick building on each street corner for all the other banks but not the National... so we cruised up the street to where the last brick building with bank potential stood. Upon closer inspection we realised it had a steeple and church bell. And sadly it was the Catholic Bank which takes deposits only. LOL
Now THAT's funny, Jean! Love it.
